State of Women in Pakistan

Abstract: Pakistan came into existence in 1947 on the name of Islam. The idea behind the creation of Islamic Republic of Pakistan was to develop/lay foundation of a state where people can practice the laws prescribed by Allah SWT. The founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah said that women are third power after sword and pen for the development of nations. The Islamic viewpoint about the importance and respect of females is discussed. This chapter focuses on the current status of women in Pakistan in terms of their number, age bracket, issues and growth opportunities. Few names of currently leading women in Pakistan are also included in the chapter. Pakistan, the land of pure, has very strong women who are making all of us proud.
