Chapter 1 in The Race for 5G Supremacy:Why China Is Surging, Where Millennials Struggle, & How America Can Prevail, 2020, pp 1-9 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.

Abstract: This book describes the journey of an American millennial moving between two worlds — one young and digitized, the other older and, for lack of a better word, analog. One world is a digital world into which they were born and which they mastered by the time they were teens. This is the generation born into the world of the internet, coding, PayPal, online anything. They first entered a workforce in 2004 with the IPO of Google and the last of the millennials are entering now. It has been a frustrating 18 years for these people. They lived through the Columbine mass shooting and 230 other high school shootings. They entered the workforce right after the collapse of the Nasdaq and all its scandals, 9/11, and the Iraq war. They endured Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath in 2005. They stumbled through the Great Financial Crisis (GFC) and large scale unemployment from 2008 to 2011. They accumulated the largest buildup of student debt in American history. They have lived through the scourge of OxyContin and a declining life expectancy and 18 years of endless war.
