Chapter 6 in Contemporary Entrepreneurship Issues in International Business, 2021, pp 139-168 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.
Abstract:
The internationalisation of entrepreneurial activities is a necessity for the majority of entrepreneurial subjects. The internationalisation of entrepreneurial activities is represented by the geographic expansion of entrepreneurial activities across national borders. Internationalisation is a phenomenon researched intensively over the last few decades from a variety of viewpoints. Issues such as the development of international activities and factors favouring or disfavouring internationalisation have been studied for both large enterprises as well as small and medium enterprises. The internationalisation of entrepreneurship activities counts among long-lasting strategic decisions; these decisions bring significant changes in running an enterprise and are conditioned by them as well. The entrance of an enterprise on the market itself allows for a significant opportunity, so long as the said enterprise possesses the proper readiness, which grants it the chance to develop entrepreneurial activities (business) in the foreign markets. Entrepreneurial activities in international markets bring significant changes in competitive strategy. The objective of this chapter is to identify a possible connection between competitive strategy and international activities in the internationalisation of the studied enterprises. The study is based on primary data collected from a recent survey of enterprises from the Czech Republic. The relationships of interest are analysed using relevant regression techniques.
