Abstract:
Growing up across Mumbai and London, Gautam Rao was bullied throughout his childhood for not fitting into either city. As a child, he was passionate about astronomy. Persistent health issues made him realize that he wanted to do meaningful things, and not just work for an investment bank. A volunteering trip to Nepal helped him make a decision — if no one else was going to take a chance on him, he would. He embarked on a series of entrepreneurial ventures that took him from Singapore to Chile to Silicon Valley.
