Abstract: It seems appropriate before introducing the impact of COVID-19 on the aviation industry and in particular on air transportation, to illustrate some basic elements on how this sector is regulated. In particular, it is necessary to stress the importance of air transport for our society, and the classification of the different components forming this complicate ecosystem, in order for the general public to better understand how “air transport” is regulated and thus understand the functioning of the main regulatory bodies. Only after this preliminary introduction it will be possible to proceed with a more detailed analysis on the impact of the COVID-19 on the aviation industry…
