Chapter 17 in Climate-Smart Innovation:Social Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Development in the Environmental Economy, 2023, pp 269-284 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.
Abstract:
In recent years, sustainable development has become a global trend worldwide. Responsibility and environmental friendliness extend to many areas, including real estate construction. The research is based on the theoretical approaches of the concepts of sustainable development and the green economy, suggesting the need to justify the use of new financial instruments. The chapter discusses one of the tools of green financing — green mortgage, which contributes to the development of an effective tool for increasing the sustainability of the environment — green construction. During the research, the authors used data from open sources published on the official websites of Russian and foreign banks, the Ecology Building Society (UK), and others. The available scientific publications on the subject of green lending were analyzed. The experience of various countries (USA, UK, China, Russia, etc.) on the implementation of the green mortgage was studied. Moreover, the authors formulated a number of conditions that will contribute to the more active development of green mortgages.
