Chapter 22 in Climate-Smart Innovation:Social Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Development in the Environmental Economy, 2023, pp 339-348 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.

Abstract: In this chapter, considering the focus of society on economic, environmental, and social efficiency, the authors discuss the need for medical ecology at the present stage of societal development and the original need for its inclusion in territorial development planning. The authors justify the thesis that there are additional risks of environmentally caused and environmentally dependent diseases when the population lives in urban agglomerations. The authors see the smart city concept as an organizational marketing solution that is initially oriented towards the needs of the area’s target audiences. The chapter argues that health care should be fully integrated as a congruent module into the smart city concept to include the basics of environmental medicine and preventive health services that reduce risks to the population, thereby increasing life expectancy and the quality of life of the population.
