Elena G. Popkova

Chapter 26 in Climate-Smart Innovation:Social Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Development in the Environmental Economy, 2023, pp 387-395 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.

Abstract: The chapter aims to justify the feasibility of combating climate change in the economy. To support cutting-edge research in this area, a new international scientific journal on the economics of climate change has been created, the relevance and review of which is the subject of this research. The research results contribute to the theory of sustainable development in the environmental economy, substantiating the systemic nature and close interdependence of economic growth and combating climate change. This emphasizes the relevance of a new international academic journal on the economics of climate change. The journal has been launched by a respected publisher Frontiers, in the series Frontiers in Environmental Economics. The new journal focuses on the economics of climate change, which refers to the totality of economic and environmental processes, linkages, and relationships arising in combating climate change in the economy. The uniqueness of the journal lies in its original subject area: the economics of climate change. The journal is notable for its multidisciplinary research on the economics of climate change. The research resolves the contradiction between the interests of society, the economy, and the environment by proposing a new scientific concept and a new promising area of research — the economics of climate change. The new international scientific journal on the economics of climate change has been created to stimulate the application of scientific thought to current issues in this subject area. The value of this new journal is that it pushes the boundaries of the study of climate change from ecology to environmental economics and breaks down the barriers to combating climate change in the economy.
