Enterprise Growth, Profitability, Industry Growth and Growth Venture Characteristics

Chapter 3 in High Growth Enterprises:The Role of Founder Characteristics and Venture Policies, 2022, pp 69-102 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.
Abstract:
It was noted in the previous chapter that the focus of this study is the comparison between high-growth and low-growth enterprises. Additionally, it was considered important for us to test two major hypotheses about enterprise growth, prevalent among researchers on the topic. One of them is the hypothesis of growth unwillingness of some enterprises (despite being profitable), and the other is that enterprise growth depends primarily on industry growth. As explained earlier, we would test these hypotheses with a simple analysis of two sets of correlations, which will be explained subsequently. The most basic requirement for the above analyses (comparisons and hypotheses testing) is the computation of a growth index for each of the respondent enterprises.
