Abstract: Yair Aharoni was born in Zichron Ya’akov, Israel, in 1931. He served in the Israel Defense Forces between 1950 and 1956, in various staff and line officer duties. His final position was Head of the Statistical Branch, Israel Air Force, holding the rank of captain. During his military service, he completed his undergraduate studies at the School of Law and Economics, which was later absorbed by Tel Aviv University. The thesis for his subsequent M.A. studies, titled “Industrial Democracy over the Past Half Century”, was awarded the Payis Prize in 1957. Keeping up the practice of combining work with academic studies, he headed the cost accounting section and training department of the Israel Institute of Productivity. During those years, he was also socially active in founding the Israel branch of AIESEC and the Association of Graduates in Social Sciences in Israel…
