Prospects and Implementation of ESG Principles in the Era of Digitalization

Abstract: The authors study Russian organizations that have introduced ESG principles into their business processes and analyze the ESG projects of the considered organizations. Besides, the authors examine and analyze the meaning of sustainable development strategy and ESG principles, substantiating their significance. The authors also consider all sustainable development principles and risks that the organizations that have not implemented the ESG concept into their practice may be exposed to. The relevance of this research lies in substantiating the high significance of the ESG concept in the context of the economic. The research provides a detailed analysis of the ESG strategies of large Russian organizations on factors of organizational culture, gender inequality, conservation of natural resources, and social conditions. In this regard, the business strategy of Russian organizations may not fit the sustainable development strategy. The research analyzes the factors by which it became possible to determine the positive and negative aspects of implementing ESG principles. Under sanctions, attracting foreign investors becomes possible only through compliance with ESG principles and the implementation of a sustainable development strategy. The novelty of this research is justified by ESG transformation, which implies changes that include new technologies that companies introduce into their business processes to simplify them and increase efficiency. The final part of this research is devoted to identifying positive and negative factors for implementing the ESG concept in Russian organizations.
