Abstract:
The current study explores talent inbreeding in Indian educational institutes as organizations. The study develops the talent inbreeding index (TII), which measures the extent of talent inbreeding in educational organizations using a sample from India. A total of 67 institutes (13 IIMs, 23 IITs, and 31 NITs) have been taken into consideration for the sample. To measure the extent of talent (academic) inbreeding, the faculties’ profiles of every institution have been explored and obtained from the official websites. Finding highlights that technical institutes have more academic inbreeding compare to management and other social science institutes. The study also presents many implications for the government, educational organizations, and policymakers for managing talent effectively and improving research and education-based outcomes.
