Chapter 3 in Knowledge Management:Through the Technology Glass, 2005, pp 41-56 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.
Abstract:
AbstractIn this chapter we explore the role of web technology in managing knowledge records. We present a view of knowledge records as society's tools for establishing evidence, protecting human rights, supporting the rule of law, preserving cultural capital and providing knowledge services. A sample of selected Australian web sites is analysed to demonstrate how the web is used to facilitate storage and access to knowledge that empowers justice and helps governments to achieve a wiser and fairer society. The chapter concludes with a set of guidelines for developing and implementing quality knowledge records systems.
