AbstractThis chapter is concerned with issues and trends related to technological support of online communities of practice. It introduces portals as one of the latest and most powerful KM tools aimed at enabling and sustaining online communities. It also provides an in-depth analysis of the internet-based portal designed to support a global KM community to illustrate how technology can help to form and coordinate such communities.
