Abstract:
AbstractKnowledge Management (KM) has proved its ability to promote innovation and gain the competitive edge in business, particularly in the knowledge intensive service sectors. Nevertheless, the instrument for performance measurement of KM has not been fully developed, owing to the complexity involved in variable selection. There are some instruments available for KM performance measurement but their validity is yet to be established. The main thrust of this paper is on the development, validation and application of the KM performance measurement instrument in the educational and the IT sectors through empirical means. The instrument chosen for the empirical study has eight dimensions, which measure the KM performance. The instrument is validated for content, criterion and construct validity, which includes the factor analysis. The empirical study has been performed using this instrument through random sampling technique. A hypothesis is tested to study the perceptional difference in two knowledge intensive service sectors. The result of this empirical study is the development of a valid instrument that can be used for KM performance measurement in service sectors.
