Abstract:
AbstractRequirements of different stakeholders force companies to pay attention to environmental aspects of their business and to improve corporate environmental performance. In addition, every organization has to develop its own competitive edge. Due to its influence on economic success, mainly through the impact on invested capital and product quality, the efficient and effective use of plants and production equipment is an important aspect of corporate success. The contribution of maintenance management for increasing corporate environmental performance is discussed in this article. Based on the concept of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) a framework for environmental consideration is proposed. As example of maintenance prevention an integrated assessment tool, which combines simultaneous economic, maintenance and environmental aspects, is presented.
