Abstract: Abstract‘Knowledge is Power’ has become a cliché in contemporary management discourse. Yet despite this, there has been relatively little attempt made by knowledge management writers to develop a credible conceptual foundation to examine the relationship between knowledge and power and their implications for knowledge management practice The paper will argue that Foucault's theories about the discursive construction of power/knowledge can make a valuable contribution to knowledge management research and practice. It provides an overview of some of the key concepts in Foucault's approach to discourse analysis and explores some of their implications for knowledge management researchers and practitioners.
