Abstract: AbstractThe expression “plus ça change, plus c'est la měme chose” (the more things change, the more they stay the same) aptly sums up much of the analysis by the authors in this volume. Membership in the WTO, they suggest, has had only a marginal impact on the thriving economic relationship that developed before dual accession and has continued to flourish in the years that have followed. Moreover, an examination of the cross-strait economic relationship since the completion of these chapters suggests that the factors they identify as initially limiting the impact of common membership remain in effect four years after accession. In this postscript, we first highlight the arguments presented in this volume regarding the limited impact of dual accession, and then turn to a brief discussion of subsequent developments …
