Chapter 8 in Handbook on Business Information Systems, 2010, pp 189-197 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.
Abstract:
AbstractThe present chapter seeks to understand in what ways cultural auditing could represent a process whereby an evaluation could take place that could help improve multiculturalism in organizations, logistics management, and information systems. It suggests that information and business systems could benefit by considering cultural diversity and its impact on organizational success. In fact, cultural auditing has been pointed out as a way to neutralize cultural conflicts. In order to develop the argument, this chapter first discusses the concept of cultural auditing; it analyzes the extent to which literature concerning cultural auditing takes on board multicultural concerns; it then gauges if and how cultural auditing has been perceived, through oral history in an auditing organization in Brazil. It concludes, by pinpointing the possible ideas and ways for cultural auditing in a multicultural context.
