Chapter 20 in Innovation and Entrepreneurship:Choice and Challenge, 2018, pp 187-197 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.

Abstract: In the summer of 2010 during a visit to Taipei, I walk past a store at the corner of Xin-ye and Xin-hai Roads with a big shiny “GIANT BICYCLE” (捷安特) sign. With great curiosity, I decide to walk inside and take a look. Displayed on the floor and the racks are bikes of various sizes, types and colors. Clerks are busily working with customers. Suddenly, I notice a very fancy gadget hanging from the ceiling as the feature presentation. Alas, it is more like a piece of art than a bicycle. The NT$350,000 (approximately US$11,500) price tag certainly indicates that. I gasp, “For that money, one can buy a Geely two-door sedan in Shanghai!” I double-check with the clerk, who responds, “Yes, sir. The tag is correct. And if you want one, we will put your name down on the waiting list. It may take two or three months for delivery”…
