Alvin LEE Zhi Hui

Chapter 4 in Business Analytics:Progress on Applications in Asia Pacific, 2016, pp 79-103 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.

Abstract: Supply chain costs form a large component of the annual expense of global consumer goods companies. For such businesses to be financially sustainable, as well as environmentally responsible, proper stewardship of their supply chains is essential. This paper illustrates how an end business user can visually determine the cost component movements of a product category, as well as determine the most cost effective route of product manufacture, via purpose-built dashboards using data visualization software, Tableau, to aid in making better business decisions. The business context will be briefly discussed, before purpose built data visualization dashboards from a test company’s Microsoft Analysis Data Cubes are examined.
