Chapter 16 in Labour Economics and Public Policy:Managing the Labour Markets for Competitiveness, 2017, pp 241-256 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.
Abstract:
In a typical poor society, we can see the damage of vicious poverty cycle to the residents of the country. People are poor and not educated. There are no jobs. The government is not effective. Even if these countries have natural resources, the money will be squandered away. This is why we see evidence that remittances from workers earning money abroad has not helped the country to develop compared to being able to attract foreign investment. This chapter aims to provide a theoretical framework to assess the impact of foreign investment.
