Abstract: When I was first informed about this conference, I was very pleased to have the Chicago Fed co-sponsor the event. When I was asked to also participate and give some opening comments, I gladly accepted the invitation. George has been a fixture at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago since I first arrived, and obviously he was quite influential long before my arrival.
