Abstract: A continuous rise in the rate of growth of a country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at stable prices provide policymakers with necessary monetary and non-monetary resources to implement various types of economic and social development programs designed to improve living conditions of the overwhelming majority of the country’s population. However, the important indicator of the growth in GDP is the rate of increase in per capita income, which is significantly influenced by the rate of population growth. For example, if we assume that the per capita income in India increased by 2 percent between 2013 and 2014, and the size of the population also increased by 2 percent during the same period, the growth in per capita income will make little improvement in the socio-economic status of Indian citizens…
