Now Everyone Knows Him

Tony Fernandes

Chapter 18 in Power Talk:Insights from Asia's Leading Entrepreneurs, 2018, pp 175-184 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.

Abstract: Too big to fail. And too big to say no.Nowhere is this more evident than in the case of AirAsia’s Tony Fernandes, who launched one of Asia’s most successful budget airlines with just two planes. He has always been held up as a charismatic leader, known for his outspoken and straight-talking rhetoric. But tracing his development from the time he started the business to my interview with him in 2014 to his latest and probably biggest miscalculation, after backing the wrong candidate in Malaysia’s historic elections in May 2018, there is a progressive mellowing of the man.
