Abstract:
The following sections are included:A cross-sectional research design was used. The household survey was carried out in six MIUs in the Philippines.A two-stage cluster sampling method was followed in selecting insureds and uninsureds. A total of 1,953 households, 890 insured households (4,639 individuals), and 1,063 uninsured households (5,550 individuals) were included in the study.Around 95% of the hospitalization cases among the surveyed households were physician-referrals rather than direct admissions.
