Abstract:
While enrolled as an underclassman or in a graduate program on a college or university campus somewhere in the United States (U.S.), various economic, financial, and social matters directly or indirectly influence the eligibility, lifestyle, retention, progress, and success of men (male) and women (female) student athletes (SAs) from both academic and sports perspectives. Besides classmates, coaches, and teammates, athletes also interact in different ways and have relations with administrators, faculty, and staff, and even with alumni and the local community. Compared to non-athletes, they have interesting but challenging and sometimes unique experiences in pursuing an education and then obtaining a degree while performing on one or more sports teams of their school…
