Chapter 7 in Digital Enablement and Innovation in China:A Casebook, 2019, pp 45-53 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.
Abstract:
This case examines the role of social media in the rise of micro-philanthropy and grassroots associations in China, with a focus on Deng Fei’s “Free Lunch (for School Kids)” initiative. In particular, it discusses how Deng and his team enact rather than articulate what they believe in; it also investigates why enact-ivism, rather than activism, is embodied by micro-philanthropists through experience economy.
