Abstract: AbstractBefore I talk about the current crisis, I want to recount some experiences I have had observing the U.S. reaction to all kinds of crises. You will note from my biography that I have considerable experience as a government bridesmaid but never as a bride. But even bridesmaids often observe more than they really should.
