Abstract: AbstractIt is a pleasure to participate once again in an International Banking Conference at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.Charles Calomiris wrote in his chapter, “It is … important, in the interest of shaping desirable reform, to get our story straight about what happened to cause the recent crisis” (see p. 74 of this book). I agree, and would add that doing so is equally important with respect to other lessons that should affect policies but might not necessarily rise to the level of reforms requiring Congressional action (for example, monetary policy)…
