Abstract:
AbstractI am pleased and honored to participate in this celebration of Alan Deardorff. He has contributed enormously to the profession through his research, his teaching, his policy contributions, and his good citizenship in the profession. I won't comment on his teaching and good citizenship except to say that I've encountered many of Alan's former students, both graduate and undergraduate, and all speak enthusiastically about his support and role in their education, including in some cases their decision to go on to graduate school in economics. And many of his former students, who are participating in this symposium, have continued down paths opened up by Alan and, of course, his colleagues…
