AbstractEconomic production is fundamental to the operation of any economic system, serving to transform economic 'inputs' such as raw materials and labour hours into other more highly valued goods or services. Production is also a dimension of economic life in which most individuals participate directly in the form of paid or unpaid work, with significant and immediate consequences for their quality of life.
