Protecting Your Invention and Planning Your Patent Filing
Matthew Y Ma
Chapter 5 in Fundamentals of Patenting and Licensing for Scientists and Engineers, 2015, pp 107-127 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.
Abstract:
The process of generating IP will not be effective without putting into practice to protect your invention. For example, you must document and protect your invention early on. You may also need to decide when to file patents in order to best protect your invention. At other times, you may want to select the right patent attorney or patent agent to file a patent for you, or you may want to file it yourself. This chapter discusses best practices in documenting your invention, planning your patent filing, as well as working with your attorney.
