Abstract:
Before I begin my discussion on corporate groups in Japan, I find it appropriate, as a backdrop to the chapters that follow, to briefly describe the characteristics of the Japanese corporate system, and discuss how it has evolved or remain unchanged over what has been dubbed the “lost decades” since the economic bubble burst in 1991. I hope this will provide some context for understanding Japanese corporate groups…
