Abstract: Today, numerous companies are re-examining the source of their distinctive advantage in the face of uncertainties, continuous flow of emerging technologies and new consumption patterns. The necessity, to invest in sustainable development, to accommodate an exploding world population, to deal with the growing scarcity of raw materials and energy constraints, is leading to a reversal of the traditional logic of value creation. As a result, economies are turning their focus toward demand-driven production of utilities rather than goods alone. New strategies are deployed to utilize technologies that stimulate innovation in services and encourage partnerships.
