Abstract: The term Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been in use for many decades. In recent years, it has been referred to as big data, machine learning, computer vision, neural networks, and, since 2022, Generative or GenAI. We have all encountered it over the years, from facial scans at the airport and semi-autonomous cars to email spam filters and online translators. With the public launch of ChatGPT by OpenAI in November 2022, a new AI hype cycle commenced, particularly in the US. Major tech companies, including Microsoft, Amazon, and Nvidia, began investing billions in startups, algorithms, and new data centers. This triggered a surge of applications, ranging from text generators and chatbots to image creators. Even seasoned AI experts and investors were caught off guard by the rapid pace and scale of investments. So, what changed so suddenly?…
