Practical AI Insights for Business

Chapter 12 in The Big Swiss AI Secret:Unveiling Switzerland's World-Class AI Ecosystem, 2025, pp 182-191 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.
Abstract:
One of the most significant moves in startup history was Sam Altman’s decision to open his AI chatbot ChatGPT to the public. Allowing the public to experience the power of AI chatbots created a pivotal moment that led to widespread adoption. It compelled business leaders, governments, and investors to scrutinize AI closely. The AI genie was out of the bottle, forcing corporations devising AI strategies; otherwise, they would face stock market repercussions. Simultaneously, employees in all departments began using AI chatbots to draft emails, reports, and contracts. This shift occurred because chatbots empowered non-technical staff, enabling them to create customized apps and programs on the spot. LLMs sparked a grassroots coding revolution, and business executives quickly recognized that ignoring AI was not an option and that banning it was shortsighted. The Financial Times noted in 2024: “Staff are adopting large language models faster than companies can issue guidelines on how to do so.”The question that quickly arose was how to integrate AI into a business.
