Analysis of Factors Affecting Deposits of Commercial Banks

Abstract: This research scientifically and theoretically examines how the adequacy of banks’ deposit bases impacts their financial stability. It analyzes the influence of endogenous factors on the volume and percentage of short-term deposits at JSC “Uzsanoatqurilishbank.” Utilizing the least squares method and structural vector autoregression (SVAR) models, the authors determine that setting the optimal “lags” to 2 for the SVAR model is appropriate for assessing the factors affecting the volume and percentage of the bank’s short-term deposits. The research finds that changes in the percentage of short-term deposits are significantly influenced by variations in these factors. However, alterations in the money supply, inflation rate, and fluctuations in the national currency exchange rate do not affect the proportion of short-term deposits at JSC “Uzsanoatqurilishbank.” Additionally, the model results indicate that the volume of short-term deposits at JSC “Uzsanoatqurilishbank” significantly affects inflation. Conversely, changes in the national currency exchange rate do not affect the volume of the bank’s short-term deposits.
