Abstract: In theory and practice, ever since the advent of globalisation, the environment and sustainability have been highly contested issues across the globe, and particularly in developing countries such as India. While globalisation has increased economic growth and benefited a large section of the middle class, it has raised the hopes of an increased standard of living among others.
