Abstract: Die Telekommunikationsinfrastruktur ist unter technischen Gesichtspunkten durch eine enorm rasche Fortentwicklung gekennzeichnet. Die Neuerungen werden durch die Nutzer sowohl für gewerbliche/berufliche wie auch für private Zwecke schnell adaptiert und umfassend angewendet. Vor allem die Verschmelzung von Telekommunikation und physischem Verkehr durch die zunehmende Anwendung mobiler bzw. portabler Kommunikationsanwendungen wirkt sich sowohl auf die Entwicklung von Siedlungsstrukturen als auch auf die Verkehrsinfrastrukturen aus.
