Evaluación Económica de pérdidas por enfermedades en bovinos: métodos de valuación de perdida

Ignacio Benito Amaro

No 4310, Asociación Argentina de Economía Política: Working Papers from Asociación Argentina de Economía Política

Abstract: This work seeks to lay the foundations for a correct assessment of the effects of different diseases and conditions in cattle. It is essential to have a correct quantification of the problem to take dimension of what it implies. Starting from an erroneous quantification of the magnitudes relevant to the problem, both the intervention and the disease, can carry out erroneous guidelines of importance to combat the problem. An erroneous public policy can be costly both for society and for the producer, therefore, it is essential to start from correct valuations when carrying out the analysis on policies to be followed. In this work, it is concluded that the IRR of the activity under study is the best available rate to use when estimating at the producer level. Regarding methodologies to quantify losses at the producer level, it is presented that both the methodology of price differentials and cash flow are equally usable. Which one to use depends on the available information and processing capacity. In the analyzes in the aggregate, a producer level is recommended to use price differentials and for the analysis of markets the analysis of surpluses.
