Abstract: In the last few decades corporations have grown to become the most important and widely spread form of business organization and therefore there has been an increased interest in their study all over the world. Parallel with this there has been an increased interest in the study of corporate governance. The main purpose of this paper is not to give an extensive review of the theoretical concepts regarding corporations and corporate governance, but rather to introduce a comparative analysis of corporate governance in the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Macedonia. Both neighbouring countries have been chosen for this task due to the fact that they are both ex-communist societies at the final stages of their transition and at the same time countries aspiring to become members of the European Union. The paper will present the main similarities and differences in the systems of corporate governance in both countries, having in mind their advantages and disadvantages as well as experiences of good practice that can be shared between them. The main focus of the paper are the governing bodies of the corporations in accordance with the models of corporate governance applied in both countries.
