Abstract:
The principal objective of this paper, consist to evaluate the level of efficiency of agricultural production (that is, Earth-based) of the Central African Economic and Monetary State (CEMAC). More specifically, this research is focused on assessing the level of the technical efficiency of agricultural Production in the six CEMAC countries of agricultural factors (consisting of Technical efficiency and technological efficiency). The use of a non-parametric model (through the “Malmquist” Productivity Index method) on data of the World Development indicator (WDI 2021) from the six countries of the sub-region over the period 1999-2020. The results from the study show that not only the availability of land, labour, tractors, fertilizers and human capital leads to technical inefficiency (loss of 3% over the study period) but also to technological efficiency (gain of 2.5% of the study period) of agricultural production. However, in the entire CEMAC Sub-Region, there is a loss of agricultural productivity of the order 0.5%, mainly due to Chad, which has a total loss of agricultural productivity of 19.7%
