Abstract: This paper explores the concept of building resilient agrifood systems across Africa using the study in Limpopo Province, focusing on gender-responsive strategies that can help to address the challenges posed by climate change. Drawing on case studies and existing literature, the authors examine the key components of a resilient agrifood system and highlight the ways in which gender considerations can be integrated into these systems. The paper used primary data with the use of structured questionnaires. A sample of 150 rural households was used to assess the gender responsiveness to agrifood systems in Africa. The results indicated that gender plays vital role in the agricultural sector, especially during the changes of seasons with regards to food production. The paper also provides recommendations for policymakers and practitioners seeking to build more resilient and gender-responsive agrifood systems in Africa. Overall, the paper underscores the urgent need for innovative and collaborative approaches to address the complex challenges facing African agrifood systems in the 21st century.
