No 20578, 2001 Annual meeting, August 5-8, Chicago, IL from American Agricultural Economics Association (New Name 2008: Agricultural and Applied Economics Association)

Abstract: In this paper we investigate the impacts of food scares in the UK on the prices and spreads of beef, pork and lamb using a decade of monthly price data (1990-99). Results underline the importance of food scares on prices and price spreads and the strong inter-relationships between meats, typically ignored in such studies.
