Spatial Clustering of the U.S. Biotech Industry

Abstract: The study develops a county-level spatial tobit model that analyzes factors affecting site-selection of the U.S. biotech industry. The hypothesis of spatial agglomeration economies is confirmed for the spatial structure of the biotech industry, indicating that biotech firms are positively correlated across counties, resulting in clustering of biotech production.
