Alternative Estimation Prodecures For Multiplicative Models: Implications for Projecting Recreational Use

Richard Green and Warren Johnston

No 284089, 1975 Annual Meeting, August 10-13, Columbus, Ohio from American Agricultural Economics Association (New Name 2008: Agricultural and Applied Economics Association)

Abstract: This paper deals with the difficulties in using results from multiplicative models of recreational use(demand) for projecting recreational use of for estimating consumer surplus values and offers alternatives--theoretically optimal MSE-estimators--to traditional OLS estimators. Empirical comparisons of OLS and alternative estimators are given.
