Abstract: This paper describes a linear programming application of economic planning for hospital services delivery, developed as part of a project providing research support for a multi -county health planning council in north -central Iowa. The council's need was for an analytical tool to support its decision making process regarding formal proposals for service capability and capacity changes received from hospitals.
