Abstract:
The basic objective of this paper is to determine the economic optimum effort to employ in the Gulf of Mexico shrimp fishery. An important. aspect. of the analysis, that has been virtually ignored in the literature, is the actual cost components incurred by a vessel owner and their relation to both catch and effort.
