No 278901, 1980 Annual Meeting, July 27-30, Urbana-Champaign, Illinois from American Agricultural Economics Association (New Name 2008: Agricultural and Applied Economics Association)

Abstract: Jabara, Cathy L, and William T. Coyle (USDA) - Impact of Japanese Rice and Wheat Policy on Trade. The interaction between Japanese rice and wheat policy and the impact on trade is analysed through estimation of an annual, econometric model describing production, consumption, and trade. Simulation results indicate recent policies designed to reduce surplus rice stocks decrease wheat imports, but rice production and consumption are not balanced.
